Concepts

Four things, each declared on its own and named by you:

What it isIdentified by
InputWhere one source pushes: a protocol and a route (an SRT streamid resource, an RTMP publish name, a MoQ namespace, or a UDP port for TS). Who may push, and what is accepted, are its settings.id — by default <name>.<role>, e.g. event/cam1.primary
StreamEvery decision about the media: its source, a tree of failover switches and muxes over inputs (or other streams).name
OutputWhat consumers dial: a port (or a route on a shared listener), its named consumers, its alarms. Attached to at most one stream, and movable — consumers stay connected while you move it.name
GroupA named set of streams, e.g. one event, carrying defaults for their inputs (schedule, recording, TR 101 290).name

POST /streams with inline inputs makes a stream, its inputs and an output named after it in one call. A stream reads exactly the inputs its source lists; an input does not join a stream by being declared beside it.
